What are the best cosmetic dentistry procedures for fixing a cracked tooth?

The answer to this question depends on how badly the crack is in the tooth. If the crack is surface level only, this is very common and likely will not progress to anything worse. If the appearance bothers the patient, we can cover the front of the tooth with a thin bonding material to improve the appearance. This bonding will also slightly strengthen the tooth and can fill in chipped teeth.

If we deem that the cracked tooth is an issue, we will most likely provide you with a strong, natural-colored crown. We customize our dental crowns for each patient's teeth to provide proper protection. This way, the tooth will not crack any further or be at risk for decay and bacterial infection thanks to the dental crown.

Our crowns are also commonly used to cover discolored, misshapen, and chipped teeth.

If my teeth are crooked, but I do not want braces, is there anything else that will improve their appearance?

In situations like this, we often suggest dental veneers. Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain material bonded to the fronts of the teeth, covering any visible dental imperfections. Our dental veneers will offer patients a straight, properly shaped, and tooth-colored improvement. This process is much simpler than having to wear braces for several months and provides immediate results.

If the patient only has one or two teeth that are poorly shaped, we may be able to employ our detailed contouring techniques to reshape each one. During this process, we use specialized dental tools to gently buff and contour small amounts of dental enamel.

Patients who still want to align their teeth but avoid braces will benefit from something like clear aligners. Clear aligners are a popular option that will provide quick results when worn as directed. When a patient visits our office, we will determine what cosmetic straightening improvement is right for the patient's wants and needs.

If I tried store-bought whitening before and it did not work, will a professional whitening treatment be any better?

Yes. Professional whitening uses different combinations of bleaching agents that will provide quicker and longer-lasting results. We will help patients use their whitening treatment properly by going over in detail whichever method we determine is the most effective. We offer various types of dental whitening, so we can discuss each patient's individual desires when they visit for one of our cosmetic dentistry procedures.

We hope these answers addressed some of your cosmetic dentistry procedures questions. If you would like to learn more call us at (610) 400-1588 and visit our office. We can provide you with all of the information you need about our various quality cosmetic dentistry procedures.
